How do I apply to the PhD program?
The first step you have to take is to contact some possible advisors in the areas of interest and start to put a research project together. This project is a requirement for the application acceptance, and it has to be submitted by the advisor. Applications without a research project will be incomplete and will not be evaluated. The program offers scholarships?
The course offers institutional scholarships. The number of scholarships is limited and depends on several factors. The scholarships are offered only to candidates with the highest score. It is advisable to contact potential mentors to develop a research project and submit a grant request to FAPESP agency, the latter having higher monetary value than those of institutional scholarships.

Brazilian candidates are given priority in receiving grants?
No. Scholarships are offered according to classification order.

What are the career perspectives?
Masters will find employment in/at Research institutes (fundamental research in the various areas of the neurosciences), Teaching hospitals (disease-oriented research), Pharmaceutical and medical industry (research and development), Science, industry and healthcare sectors (policy and management positions), Clinical settings related to neuro-psychology.

How much is the scholarship worth?
The scholarship offered by the UFABC worth ~1200 Brazilian reals (~700 US$) for 12 months, renewable for another 12 months under certain conditions.

I am not Brazilian and do not live in Brazil. I was approved to the program, but have not had enough time to issue the student visa and come to Brazil in time for the enrollment. What do I do?
When justified and proven, the Coordination of the course may authorize enrollment after the deadline indicated in the Announcement on exceptional basis.

How many entries the program have?
The program offers two entries per year. This year, registration takes place in March and July, but are subject to change with notice.

You must have a project or prior acceptance by a supervisor in order to participate in the selection process?
No. But we suggest that applicants come into contact with potential mentors to check on their availability for supervising and the existence of research projects in the areas desired.

I work at halftime. Can I apply?
Yes. However, it can be difficult to reconcile the activities of graduate studies with work and you will not be able to receive a scholarship.

How long it takes to conclude the program?
Two years is the time for preparing the project's research and development and completion of credits.

What is the cost of the program?
The entire selection process and program is free of charge.

I graduated in Pedagogy, Economics, etc. Can I enroll in the program?
Yes, the program requires graduate level training in any area. However, it would be easier for Bachelors related with neuroscience and cognition, such as health sciences, biology, psychology and exact sciences (mathematics, physics, computing, etc.). Other areas such as economics and philosophy will be appropriate in special cases.

The courses will be taught in which language?

Can I write my Master thesis in english?
Yes, but you may be required to write an abstract in portuguese.

The college offers student housing?
No. But there are several low cost share house options nearby.

I did not yet complete all the credits in my undergraduate program. Can I apply?
Yes, but at the time of final approval and enrollment, you need to present an official certificate of completion at undergraduate level.
